4. Reflection:

 

Throughtout this module, I have learnt the principle and sense regarding visual design. I have learnt the way and approach while analysing an artwork. Furthermore, I have also learnt the method to create a design systematically by following the procedure of this module. Principles/theories are closely related to the expression. However, it is possible to break the rule purposely in order to convey the message. 

The part that I enjoy the most is the visual analysing in Task 2. This is probably the first time I have looked at a piece of artwork to the smallest detail, trying to understand all aspects of its meaning, not just the visual impact and the feeling on it. While there may be parts that are over-interpreted, I think it still count as the beauty of the artwork.

The part that I did not enjoy the most is the writing of the blog/e-portfolio. I acknowledge that this is essential for a designer to sort out the creative process and thoughts. However, I feel boring at most of the time while doing it. 

The things I learnt about myself is I am always struggling between the design goals and the aesthetic expression in my own style. I used to be creating artwork for my own satisfaction, thus I can fully express my own visual aesthetic in the artwork. From now, I have learnt to include the viewers' perceptions as one of my criteria while creating an artwork. 

In my point of view, exercise can be included in this module instead of just having one final design. This can help student to understand more about design principle before creating their own design.

All in all, this module is a intersting and significant journey for me. Besides enjoying learning, I also appreciate Dr. Charles for giving consultation and did not set any limitation in creating. Dr. Charles succesfully create a learning emvironment that empower student that is truly inspired.
