Week 5: (Shooting day no lecture)
Week 6
In this lecture: Mr. Martin taught us about color correction and color
grading. Color correction is usally done first, color garding can be view as
"make up" for the scene colors.
Color correction:
- Process of correcting or fixing colors in a video to get them back to what they should look like for your project.
Color grading:
- Process of grading or editing colors in a video or film to give them a stylistic look.
We are instructed to do color correction for the "LALIN" video. When
there is multiple scenes, we need to decide which scene's color is closer to
the ideal outcome, and take it as the reference for the others.
When doing color correction, be "color blind" and focsus on highlight,
midtone and shadow. Do not distracted by the colors.

Open comparison View to take a adjusted frames as reference in adjusting other scenes.
Fig 1.5.1 Comparison View
Open lumetri scopes, choose Luma mode to veiw the RBG waves in black & white mode. This is useful in focusing on the overall exposure and darkness without getting distracted by colors.

I take a few reference including the official trailer of Everything

I choose an acoustic background music with female voices. I think it fits the
overall atmosphere really well. Besides, I make some captions to intersperse
between different scenes.

I try to apply a cinematic color on it while color garding. I adjust the
temperature to make the overall video look more warmth.
- Concolution Kernel Find Edges: To make the inbetween farmes of the lighting more dramatic.

- Fast Blur In: Add blur effect in the intro and transition.

To achieve the VHS/CRT looks effect, I apply the following effect in After Effect.
- Grid, Mosaic, Gaussian Blur, and CC Vignette effects are used to create a blur and unclear VHS/CRT looking scenes.
- Glow effects are used to purposely increase the overall exposure of the footages.
- CC Lens are used in some scene to stretch the footages.
Besides normal vertical shooting, I try to do some landscaoe scene in 4:3 ratio, which is the classic VHS / CRT scene ratio.
Fig 2.2.6 4:3 Ratio Landscape Scene
I add more variety to the videos by applying subtexts and dialogues.

In the outro, I received feedback from Mr. Martin to turn it into manga / comics looking scene.

FEEDBACK
Week 9:
Try to use manga effect & filter in the end of the videos, since it was shown in the first part of the video.
REFLECTIONS
This is such a challenging project for myself as it is my very first time in storyboarding, filming and editing a full video. It allows my own expression of my own aesthetics views to video productions.
In my opinion, the editing phrase of this project is the hardest task throughout the module. Since it requires the sense in the flow of editing, the visual effects and the music selection in order to have a decent outcome.
