Project 1: Propose a tabletop game design
Overview
In this project, we are required to begin synthesizing their own gameplay
system which will be based on their investigations on digital and analogue
games.
We need to apply a concept based on their research about games
and other existing studies. Besides, we are to also suggest narratives and visual
genres which would contribute to the overall unique selling proposition.
Week 1
Week 2
In this week, we try to plan out the basic structure of our own tabletop game.
We choose Monopoly Deal as our main reference and inspiration because of its fast-paced gameplay, strategic depth packed into a short playtime, and the engaging way it simplifies a classic board game into a highly replayable card format that encourages interaction, competition, and adaptability.

Week 3
This week is a go out and play week. We go to Meeples, which is a European Boardgame Cafe.
Two games we have play are:
1. Catan (The Settlers of Catan)
Firstly, we play Catan because it is a classic and highly recommended by Miss Anis too.
Catan is a strategy board game where 3–4 players compete to settle an island by building roads, settlements, and cities. Players collect and trade resources like wood, brick, grain, ore, and wool based on dice rolls each turn. The goal is to reach 10 victory points through expansion, development, and strategic trading, while dealing with the robber and other players’ moves.
The gameplay is quite overwhelming initially, but we manage to familair the rules and logic after a few rounds. The concept of development card is interesting, which add a lot of strategic twists.
2. Celestia
After that, we play celestia which is a light, fast-paced board game.
Celestia is a push-your-luck board game where 2–6 players ride a flying airship through floating cities in search of treasure. Each round, one player becomes the captain and must overcome random hazards using cards, while other players choose whether to stay on board or jump off to claim points. The further the ship travels, the greater the rewards, but also the greater the risk of crashing.
We found the design of floating cities fit kinda fit with the glucose pathway (the mechanism of floating from the button to the top for a higher scores).
